Mrs. Heather C. Jackson

Dr. Jackson's wife, Mrs. Heather C. Jackson, serves the practice as co-owner and Administrator of Mayo Town & Country Animal Hospital. She is also a native of Lafayette County since birth and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1993. Heather loved animals as a child as well as people. As a small child, Heather would visit local nursing homes along with her grandmother. On those visits, she and her grandmother would bring a sense of companionship and love to residents by showing acts of kindness by bringing goodie baskets, singing the residents' favorite hymn songs,  and showing the residents pictures of Heather with her dogs.  While dating in high school, Dr. Jackson admired Heather's love of animals and gave Heather a Golden Retriever Dog named Cinnamon as a christmas gift....and for their first wedding anniversary, a Labador Retriever named Mozart.... and they added a Jack Russel terrier to the family named Jake during Dr. Jackson's last years of Veterinary School.  Heather pursued the profession of Occupational Therapy which allowed her to combine her love of pets and the use of pets as a therapeutic approach to promote human health and wellness. She graduated from the University of Florida in 1998 with a Bachelor of Health Science In Occupational Therapy With Highest Honors. During her college professional training, Heather was allowed to participate in the pet therapy program at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. This program allowed highly trained pets along with their owners to visit hospitalized children and adults to promote human healing physically as well as emotionally. Heather supports her husband in promoting excellence in animal care as well as excellence in human health through Occupational Therapy. Heather performs her duties as Administrator along with running her own private Occupational Therapy practice which specializes in working with children who have medical diagnoses such as various learning disabilties, Attention Deficit Disoder, Autism, and Sensory Processing Disorder. Heather uses animals in her pediatric Occupational Therapy practice to promote emotional bonding and socialization. Heather is currently pursuing her Master's of Education Degree in Teaching and Learning from Southeastern University while balancing her professional roles and mothering three energetic sons, along with a Golden Retriever named Goldie, and a Jack Russel terrier named Daisy. May the memory of their dogs Cinnamon, Mozart, and Jake live in Heather and Dr. Jackson's hearts forever as they pass on their love of animals to their three sons.

Carmella

Carmella  is one of our two house cats. Carmella is 6 years old,  we adopted her from the Suwannee Valley Humane Society. Carmella  is a very unique kitty because she can smell and hear a can of food open from a mile away. In her "Book of Cat Manners", begging for any type of food is totally permissive.  She is a very big kitty but she is on a diet. She occasionally greets our clients in the reception area when she is not hustling an employee to please just give her a little taste, appetizer, snack, anything to satisfy her appetite.

 Judah

Judah is also one of our house cats at Mayo Town and Country Animal Hospital.  Judah is 2 years old.  Judah meets and greets everyone in the reception area as soon as they walk in the door. Judah likes to help our clients check in and out.  We have been asked if Judah is "for sale" numerous times , but Judah is here to stay.  Judah is waiting and ready to meet you. By the way, Judah can hold his own when "Lady Carmella" enters the room. Judah can let anyone know that he is a "King" in his own right of passage as he regularly takes away Dr. Jackson's or Mrs. Heather's chair as if it is his royal throne.
